Medical Disclaimer

Last updated: April 15, 2026

PillPal is NOT a medical device and does NOT provide medical advice. The information and features provided by PillPal are for personal organizational purposes only and should never be used as a substitute for professional medical guidance.

1. Not a Replacement for Professional Healthcare

PillPal is a personal medication tracking tool. It does not replace the care, advice, or supervision of a licensed physician, pharmacist, or other qualified healthcare professional. Always consult your healthcare provider before starting, stopping, or changing any medication.

2. AI Scanning Limitations

PillPal uses artificial intelligence to scan and extract information from pill bottle labels. While we strive for accuracy, this technology has important limitations:

  • AI may misread, misinterpret, or fail to extract information from labels that are damaged, blurry, or poorly lit.
  • Medication names, dosages, and instructions extracted by AI may contain errors.
  • Always verify all scanned medication information with your pharmacist or the original prescription label before relying on it.

3. Reminder Limitations

PillPal provides medication reminders as a convenience feature. However:

  • Push notifications and SMS reminders depend on your device, network connection, and third-party services. Delivery is not guaranteed.
  • Do not rely solely on PillPal reminders for critical or time-sensitive medications.
  • Always maintain a backup reminder system (e.g., physical pill organizer, alarm clock, or caregiver assistance).

4. Emergency Situations

If you are experiencing a medical emergency, call 911 (or your local emergency number) immediately. Do not use PillPal to manage emergency medical situations.

PillPal is not designed for emergency use. In case of a suspected overdose, adverse drug reaction, or any other medical emergency, seek immediate professional medical help.

5. Your Responsibility

As a PillPal user, you are responsible for:

  • Verifying all medication information entered or scanned into the app against your original prescriptions and pharmacy labels.
  • Keeping your medication records up to date, including when prescriptions change.
  • Consulting your healthcare provider about any medication-related questions or concerns.
  • Not sharing your medication data with unauthorized individuals through the share link feature.

6. No Doctor-Patient Relationship

Use of PillPal does not create a doctor-patient relationship between you and PillPal, its operators, or any of its service providers. The "doctor share" feature is a convenience tool that allows you to share your medication list with a healthcare provider of your choosing — it does not constitute a medical consultation.

7. Acknowledgment

By using PillPal, you acknowledge that you have read and understand this Medical Disclaimer. You agree that PillPal is not liable for any health outcomes that may result from your use of the Service, including but not limited to missed doses, incorrect medication information, or failed reminders.
